Local trainers Denis Consadine and Toby Pracey won the opening races before the Mudgee meeting was abandoned due to continuing rain.
Bred by Fran Ovenstone from Bathurst, Krasavitsa was having the first start for Denis Consadine in the 1100 metres Walkers Civil Maiden Plate after three previous unplaced runs in the southern districts.
Ridden by Jake Pracey-Holmes, the three-year-old filly Krasavitsa ($3.60) raced in the leading group and held on gamely to win by a half-length from She’s Ourvalentine (Anna Weatherlake ($2.70 favourite) with nearly two lengths to the third-placed Keinbah’s Gift (Jenny Duggan, $10).
Now the winner of five races and placed 19 times from 62 starts, the 10-year-old gelding Brogans Creek returned to form when winning the 1100 metres Benchmark 50 Handicap for Toby Pracey.
With apprentice Anna Weatherlake in the saddle, Brogans Creek ($5.50) fought off joint leader Ready For Lift Off (Jess Del Frari, $7) to score by short neck while Mariota (Gabrielle Johnston, $3.70) ran on well for a close third.
The wins for Denis Consadine and Toby Pracey followed the win by another Mudgee trainer David Smith the previous day at Dubbo with Enchaanted.
Starting a $31 outsider, Enchaanted (Clayton Gallagher) was a narrow leader turning for home and held on to win the 1000 metres Breakout Interiors Class One Handicap in a close finish from Elderberry Wine (Will Stanley, $51) and City Gold Speed (Adam Farragher, $3.90).
