Undefeated U14s Premiers!
In blazing fashion last Saturday (August 24), Gilgandra Panthers under-14s secured the title of 2024 Group 14 Junior Rugby League premiers.
In blazing fashion last Saturday (August 24), Gilgandra Panthers under-14s secured the title of 2024 Group 14 Junior Rugby League premiers, winning the grand final against Coonamble 42-16 in outstanding style.
With the game delayed and nerves amongst the family members building, the boys ran on with determination and pride wearing the panther jersey.
The awesome attack, defence and grinding play from all the players set the panthers in a great position to come away with the win.
The talented Jack Gibson opened the play up and put the first points on the board, with a cracker of a try.
Jack was in great form and set up some tremendous plays and tries and put on great defence and kicks throughout the game.
Sailor Ryan with a great run away try, one of two, completed some massive hit ups and tackles in defence , topped off with some brilliant runs again and again.
Dallas Carr who scored two exceptional tries, making some massive tackles and cover tackles, was awesome in defence and running the ball to gain metres.
Caine Bugmy scored an amazing try out on the left side in the corner and had a great kicking game and great offloads, never a doubt that he would come up with some great conversions to put more points on the board for the panthers.
Riley Hutchison with a full field run, was unlucky not to get a try, but put the panthers in a great position for Caine to score his corner try.
Riley ran hard all day and was slippery in attack and hard to catch, and always there to tackle hard.
Ezekiel Williams scored two smashing tries, was fantastic in defence and completed some bring runs, palming off his players to advance the ball closer to the try line.
Te Mana Diamond was out of sight in his big runs up the field and swinging the play, he can kick too for a big forward.
Charlie Whiteman did some great tackles and pumped those legs to do some significant runs, Charlie was hard to tackle and just kept going and going.
Thomas Harris ran the ball time and time again like a true panther and tackled constantly, never giving up.
Jordan Hazelton ran the ball like a champion, opening up some gaps, and put on tackle after tackle.
Lloyd Hammond pushed through the line time and time again with some great metres gained and got the tackling job done Malakai Wakefield who was always there to support again and again with his great defence, and quick plays Peter Knight completed some awesome tackles, never giving up in defence and was always in support play in attack Lukas Bamblett put on some meters with his handy running of the ball out on the blind, and completed some fierce tackles.
Hayden Brereton came into his own and ran the ball like no tomorrow, and supported continuously in cover tackles Bradley Millard ran the ball with passion and got some great touches to slow the play down when Coonamble was in attack.
Jaxon Young runs were unstoppable on the side line, tip-toeing on the line, to run the ball up field, he was excellent in defence and chased to make tackles making sure his opponents were stopped in their tracks. Jaxon converted to add to the mounting score.
Kahu Marshall played brilliantly, in attack, running the plays in the midfield and in defence chasing tackle after tackle to come up with some great results.
Clayton Wheatly tackled hard and ran even harder to move the ball around.
The boys ran away with the grand final to ultimately win by 26 points.
Congratulations Panthers. The most valuable player of the game was awarded to Dallas Carr.

Congratulations and thank you to three people who kept the year running smoothly off and on the field, coach Graham Bugmy, support AJ Young and manager Kirstie Bugmy.
Coonamble played with heart and never gave up, making it an awesome grand final.
