About 3.30pm on Thursday, May 15, 2025, officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District received multiple calls from community members about three motorcyclists riding dangerously around Waugan Street, Gilgandra. Police attended but the riders left the scene.

About 4.35pm the same day, police received a report of an alleged break and enter where three motorcycles were stolen from a home on Naden Street, Gilgandra, between Tuesday, May 13, 2025 and Wednesday, May 14, 2025.

Following further inquiries, police attended a home in Gilgandra and arrested two 15-year-old boys and recovered the three motorbikes.

They have been charged with take and drive conveyance without consent of owner; they’ve been given conditional bail to appear at a children’s court in July, 2025.

Inquiries are continuing under Operation Soteria.

Police would also like to remind the community that reporting alleged crimes via social media pages, belonging to NSW Police or other entities is not the most effective way to help local police.

When a community member rings the local police station, if it is unattended, the call is picked up by trained triple-zero (000) operators and is fully recorded and then reported back to local police to be followed up.

Police received no calls on the first night of the alleged dangerous riding however, 17 complaints were made the following day which allowed police resources to be properly allocated to investigate the incident.
