The Goin’ to Gil and Under the Gums Festival Weekend is here!
Gilgandra's Under the Gums Music Festival Kicks Off at 1.30pm Today at the Gilgandra Cultural Precinct
Under the Gums is part of the 2026 Goin’ to Gil Festival Weekend, with a packed weekend of festivities planned across the region:
• Friday, September 25
o Street Party in Armatree 4-8pm at Armatree
• Saturday, September 26
o Goin’ to Gil Street Parade from 12pm at Miller Street
o Under the Gums at Gilgandra Cultural Precinct – gates open from 1.30pm!
• Sunday, September 27
o Watermelon Eating, Coo-ee Call and Colour Run! From 9am at Miller Street
o Tunes at Toora from 12-6pm at Tooraweenah
GOIN TO GIL PARADE/UNDER THE GUMS - TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES
Temporary road closures will be in place for the Goin’ to Gil Parade and Under the Gums.
Goin’ to Gil Parade will commence from Bridge Street at 12pm.
The following roads will be closed between 10am to 1pm:
• Miller Street/Warren Road: Between the intersections with Bridge Street and Wamboin Street.
• Bridge and Morris Streets: At the Warren Road Intersection.
• Castlereagh Street: North of Jack Renshaw Bridge.
Diversions via Bridge, Myrtle and Wamboin Streets. A CBD by-pass detour will be via Federation Street, Hargraves Lane, and Castlereagh Street (Newell Highway).
Under the Gums event will commence from 1:30pm.
The following roads will be closed from 1pm to 10:30pm:
• Newell Highway (Castlereagh Street): Between Hargraves Lane and south of Jack Renshaw Bridge.
Local access via Wamboin Street. Diversions via Waren Road and Hargraves Lane.
TOORAWEENAH: 10.30am–7.30pm on Sunday, September 27: Murray Street, between Garling and Bridge Streets and Denman Street, between Murray and Aimee Streets.
NOTIFICATION OF FIREWORKS DISPLAY
Gilgandra Shire Council advises 15-minute fireworks display will take place at approximately 9:20pm at the Coo-ee Heritage and Visitor Information Centre, following Under the Gums on Saturday, September 26. Pet owners are advised to secure distressed pets and ensure they are identifiable and registered.
