DFYM LEGO® Club

Can you think of a better way to get into the Easter spirit than playing LEGO® Bingo for chocolate eggs, followed by creating Easter decorations out of bricks? We can’t!

Our DFYM builders enjoyed several enthusiastic rounds of LEGO® Bingo before designing their own eggs and Easter-themed scenes. Some clever builders crafted 3D egg designs, incorporating multiple colours and patterns, while others used mini-figures to bring lively Easter egg hunts to life.

These egg-cellent creations are now proudly on display in the library.

Rhyme Time

We had so much fun at Rhyme Time! There was plenty of counting as we enjoyed ‘One, Two, Three: A Happy Counting Book’ by Sandra Boynton and ‘Where’s Bear?’ by Emily Gravett. We also sang lots of counting songs, including “Three Cheeky Monkeys” and “Five Little Speckled Frogs".

We said hello to all the garden bugs in ‘Hello, Garden Bugs’ by Julissa Mora and danced along to songs that helped wake up our bodies. Parachute play is a wonderful way to support early childhood development, encouraging cooperation and building motor skills. It was a fantastic way to finish the session, as we played together and sang songs with the parachute.

Rhyme Time will return next month; we can’t wait to see you then!

Books and Blocks

We had such a fun time during our holiday edition of Books and Blocks this week! There was so much creativity, exploration and development of social and motor skills.

We can’t wait to welcome babies, toddlers, and preschoolers to a special holiday edition of Books and Blocks, taking place on a different morning next week.

Preschool Craft

Preschoolers are invited to get creative at the GIL Library Hub these holidays! Come along and let your child become a petite Picasso as they explore their imagination in a fun and welcoming library space.

Babies, toddlers, and preschoolers are all encouraged to experiment with a variety of materials and techniques, creating their very own masterpiece to take home.

Holiday Programs

Need more holiday entertainment? The GIL Library Hub has a fantastic lineup of activities in week two of the holidays!

Holiday LEGO® is back. Take on fun challenges or enjoy free play with the library’s wide range of kits. For hands-on creators, Make-a-Machine is the perfect experience, where children can build their very own solar-powered toy car.

If technology and robotics are more your style, you’re in luck! The GIL Library Hub offers a variety of robotics activities to keep you engaged and entertained.

Wrap up the holidays with a fun family movie session. Bring your own snacks and enjoy a film on the big screen.

Bookings are essential and spaces are limited, so be sure to secure your spot!

Friday Flicks

Join us next week at the GIL Library Hub for a relaxing movie morning, featuring a recent G or PG-rated film on the big screen!

Friday Flicks is open to all adults. Why not stop by one of Gilgandra’s great cafés beforehand and bring along a coffee and morning tea to enjoy as you sit back and unwind?

Service NSW Savings Finder

Would you like help uncovering savings you may not know about? Next week, Lisa from Service NSW will be visiting the GIL Library Hub to guide community members through the Service NSW Savings Finder program. Many people are eligible for a range of vouchers and rebates but aren’t aware of what’s available to them. Lisa will provide one-on-one assistance to help residents check their eligibility and register for relevant savings. Everyone is welcome to attend, and morning tea will be provided.
