Wednesday’s Social Bowls

Social bowls last Wednesday, December 3, had 12 keen starters. The winners with the highest winning score were James L’Homme, Mal Altmann and Garry Garbutt who defeated Wilbur Batten, Bruce Parker and Noel Raines, 23-15.

In the remaining game, Ed Wlodarczyk, Dave Jones and Blake Cook secured victory, rounding up Mike Newstead, Bob Rogers and Jayden Doran, 22-17.

Championship Bowls: 21-Up and 150 Consistency

Tracey’s history-making first as all championships concluded – well done everyone.

In a first for a long time, all the championships matches for the year were completed in the same year.

Well done bowlers for keeping these games moving along.

The results of the semi-final games of 21-Up were Dylan Marchant defeated David Duffy, 22-12 and in a battle of the Riley’s, Danial claimed the win against his wife Tracey with the score being 21-14.

In the final of the 21-Up Dylan Marchant was on fire when he defeated Danial Riley with the scoring being, 21-7. Congratulations Dylan!

In the 150 Consistency games of late the tables were then turned in the Riley family when Tracey had a very close win against Danial, 158-156. In the semi-finals Shaun Marchant defeated Brent McKenzie 153-137 while Tracey Riley had Shayne Barwick’s measure with the score being 62-30 when ‘Shoey’ unfortunately succumbed to a pre-existing injury which resulted in him not completing the game and becoming another one of Tracey’s victims.

The final of the 150 Consistency was aptly won by the very consistent Tracey Riley who defeated Shaun Marchant, 150-130.

The lead changed hands a few times in the first 10 ends with Tracey then taking the lead and was never headed for the rest of the match.

Shauny did play very good bowls with some mini-comebacks along the way, but simply came up against a player in great form on the day.

Congratulations Tracey, who made history in becoming the first female to win a 150 Consistency Championship final at the club since the men and women’s competition combined.
