Sienna takes out sports award

Sienna Marchant was announced as the recipient of the 2025 Sports Achievement Award.

Local young netballer Sienna Marchant was announced as the recipient of the 2025 Sports Achievement Award.

Councillor Greg Peart read out Sienna’s nomination for this year’s award:

“Sienna has had a top year in netball being a team member of the Dubbo Regional league open team first in division as well as being a team member in the Central West regional team.

“Sienna has played in the state regional league games in Sydney coming 4th in the state. She has been a Dubbo U17s representative team and Far West Academy player.

“As well as awarded the most valuable player in the Wagga Wagga games, and has been invited back this next season as junior coach.

“Sienna was a team member in the Dubbo Senior Campus Astley Cup Team winning all games. She played in NSW State Cup Team coming eighth in state and fourth in non-selective (sports high schools) selected in the Western Region Schools Team.

“Sienna has also coached the Dubbo competition becoming minor premiers. She has been invited to play in Scotland, England, and France in 2026 as part of a national Australian team.

“Sienna was a Far West Academy of sport number one goalkeeper for three years, one of the youngest A grade player in Dubbo Netball Association and asked to be co-captain Dubbo Astley cup team,” concluded councillor Peart.
