What was happening in local sport in 2016??
Gilgandra High School – four GHS teams travel to Bourke to compete in the annual Ronny Gibbs Sevens Tournament and return with two Shields with the Under 14’s rugby League team and the Under 14s netball. The opens rugby league team made it to the grand final but were defeated by Nyngan.
Cassie Nolan and Noah Ryan were awarded overall best and fairest players in their respective Under 14 divisions.
Diocesan athletics - St Joey’s students shine at the Diocesan carnival with Rhys O’Neil winning the 11 years 800 metres, Will Fuller also winning the junior boys long jump and finishing third in the high jump. The Junior Boys relay team consisting of Ryan Ferguson, Aiden Walker, Bailey Wykes and Will Fuller came second in their event.
