Roy's Round Up - Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

G’day folks, after two weeks almost constantly on the go around the electorate, hosting ministers and doing committee site visits and hearings, this week, I am travelling again. But this time, I am heading overseas, to the autonomous region of Bougainville in Papua New Guinea, to help them set-up their new parliament!
This is under the aegis of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, an organisation that promotes parliamentary democracy and good governance in Commonwealth Countries around the world.
This is an exciting opportunity to share some of what we have learned about parliaments, government, and administration with another emerging state, which remains within PNG, but which will have a level of autonomy.
When I return from that adventure, it will be another sitting week in our parliament. It will be interesting to see the comparisons and contrasts. Maybe we can even learn something from an emerging parliament.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month so, this month, RB Sellars has teamed-up with the National Breast Cancer Foundation to raise funds for breast cancer research, with a limited-edition pink Burton shirt.
Yes, you read that correctly – pink! Ordinarily, these shirts are green, several shades of blue, grey, white, red, purple or a colour called sand (which looks like a light version of beige), but now you can get a pink one.
I realise that some blokes might baulk at wearing pink, but if you are among those who are more confident about their blokeiness, you should consider buying one to support breast cancer research and wearing it proudly. That’s exactly what I have been doing.
There is also a fine line of pink work shirts for women available, so that the ladies can also spread the word and show support for the cause. Which is something that members of my team have been doing.
Breast cancer affects one in seven women in Australia, and it can affect men too. Almost everybody would know someone who has been impacted. The proceeds from each RB Sellars pink Burton shirt sold, will go towards helping to fund breast cancer research. So, get in the pink and let’s turn heads to raise funds!
