The Gilgandra Panthers reggies are first cab off the rank this Saturday (August 31) when they take on the swooping Baradine Magpies in the Castlereagh League Christie and Hood Reserve Grade grand final at Cobar.

It will be an early rise for both teams and their supporters as kick-off time is scheduled for 10.00am at Tom Knight Memorial Oval.

The Panthers were the first team to qualify with a win over the minor premiers, the Binnaway Bombshells in the major semi two weeks ago whilst the Magpies have had to do it the tough way, surviving three sudden death games along the way.

The Panthers have had a weeks’ break to prepare for the grand final and have everybody fresh for the big day, but Baradine have been building momentum along the way playing regular footy to prepare for the clash.

Both teams offer some quality players in their sides with the Panthers boasting a tough and experienced forward pack including Jay Towney, Mitch Scealy and Ned Kelly along with some exciting and speedy outside backs like the Sutherland brothers George Alchin and Tim Altmann.

The Magpies certainly believe they have the side to match the Panther pack, being big and mobile, along with a slick backline including Liam Fernando who has been kicking goals from all sides of the park in recent weeks.

Although it will be an early start to the day for everyone, it might be just well worth the leisurely trip to Cobar town as this game promises to be one of the best matches of the day and all of the players certainly appreciate the Panther supporters who regularly follow them around the traps.
