Racing report - Wellington (Tuesday, July 29)

An inglorious debut by Nimble Star when bucking off the rider soon after the start at Scone has been followed by successive wins at Dubbo (twice) and on Tuesday, July 29 at Wellington.

Owned by Paul and Bindi Frampton from Merriwa and trained at Dubbo by Brett Robb, Nimble Star was well supported from $3.20 to $2.50 favourite in the 1100 metres KFC Wellington Country Boosted Benchmark 58 Handicap.

Crossing quickly from the outside barrier, Nimble Star (Izzy Neale) raced outside the joint leaders Shaquila and Sardonyx before assuming control and scoring by almost a length from Mean Girls (Wendy Peel, $13 to $9) and Powderfinger (Nick Hyde, $20).

Izzy Neale a former picnic rider now going well as an apprentice in the professional ranks, was also aboard the Brett Robb-trained Angie’s Sister in the 900 metres Ian Giffin Memorial Maiden Plate.

Displaying abundant early pace from a wide barrier, Angie’s Sister ($2.10 to $1.95 favourite) bolted in by over six lengths from Ternini (Chad Lever, $21) and Mere Mortal (Ken Dunbar, $6).

The recent Carinda Cup winner Tavanasia was again well ridden by apprentice Caine Stuart to win the 1600 metres Wellington Soldiers Memorial Club Benchmark 66 Handicap.

From the Michael Mulholland stable at Dubbo, Tavanasia ($3.90 to $6) led most of the way to account for the strong finishing Green Run (Kath Bell-Pitomac, $17) and Way To Divine (Mathew Cahill, 4.40).

Owned and bred by Michael Kennedy formerly from the Come-By -Chance area and now retired to Orange, the Clint Lundholm trained Keadool ($4.20 to $3.90) ridden by in form apprentice Zoe Hunt, raced outside the leader and wore down Bottom Bar (Donovan Dillon, $8.50) to win by a length with a short head to the third placed Hard To Impress (Mikayla Weir, $2.50 favourite).

The other winners were Hannah’s Bridge (Jake Pracey-Holmes, $2.35 favourite) trained at Mudgee by Derek Piper, the Dean Mirfin, Bathurst trained Chico Casino (Donovan Dillon, $1.85 to $2.35 favourite) and The Git Up (Mikayla Weir,$2.05 favourite) trained by Brett Thompson.
