Pumas keep Galahs scoreless on freezing Friday night
Warren wasted no time asserting themselves, crossing the line just three minutes in to take a 5-0 lead, a sign of how the night would unfold.

It was a bitterly cold Friday night in Gilgandra, and unfortunately, the chill crept into Gular’s start as the men struggled to warm into the contest against a well-drilled and physical Warren outfit, eventually going down 41-nil in the Western Plains Rugby Union fixture.
Gular were on the back foot early, missing tackles and being outmuscled through the middle. Warren capitalised on their dominance, crossing twice more within the next 15 minutes to jump out to a commanding 17-0 lead just 20 minutes in. A couple of crucial turnovers and penalties swung momentum briefly in Gular’s favour, with Tim Bowman helping gain valuable territory through determined carries and smart play.
Jack Bradley stepped up when muscle was needed, throwing himself into every carry and trying to rally the forward pack.
Despite building some promising phases and knocking on the door inside Warren’s 22, Gular couldn’t convert pressure into points. Costly knock-ons and handling errors at key moments saw multiple opportunities slip through their fingers. Warren added another try before the break, taking a 22-0 lead into half-time.
The second half told a similar story, with Warren’s consistency and structure continuing to frustrate the Gular men.
Jake Peart brought some much-needed spark with aggressive line speed in defence, disrupting Warren’s backline and halting their momentum.
Steve Owens kept pressure on Warren at the breakdown, testing their ruck security throughout the half with gritty, relentless work.
But in the end, Gular were their own worst enemy. Turnovers and handling errors in crucial areas of the field repeatedly stalled any attacking rhythm. Warren took full advantage, scoring three more tries in the second half to close out the match and win by 41 points.
Points for Gilgandra were awarded as follows, Jake Peart (three points and players’ player), Tim Bowman (two points) and Jack Bradley (one point).
A tough night out for the Gular boys, but plenty of lessons to take into the next match. The hunger is still there, It’s just about tidying up execution and keeping the fire burning.
