Continuing with the amazing achievements of the young members in our community, at the September meeting the Gilgandra PROBUS Club listened to Hayden Whiteman's story. Having been school captain at both his primary and high school and beginning a university education, he was drawn back to Gilgandra.
A previous teacher notified him of a position at MH Thomas and Gilgandra Real Estate agency and that was the start of his career.
Now he is the 'licensee in charge' of that firm as well as being involved with family in the post office business - all this at the age of 27.
Recently he travelled with friends to Europe and as well as seeing all the icons of Europe he stayed on a mixed farm in the Alps (the family farm of a friend) and experienced the local way of life in rural France, This 50 acres runs sheep (which are taken to higher pastures in the warmer weather) have a small abattoir, run wedding and events as well as brew their own beer on site.
Constantly Hayden emphasised that the importance to him of the people he has met along the way, the members of his community - his family, his work colleagues, his friends and members of the football club. He is optimistic, enthusiastic and very proud of Gilgandra.
