Our netballers got to enjoy a sleep in this week with a washout in Dubbo meaning all roads led to McGrane Oval to watch our junior Panthers take on the Coonabarabran Unicorns in rugby league on Saturday, May 11.

The rain fell, mud splattered but plenty of numbers turned up for the Gilgandra Panthers! The kids were ready to play, slipping and sliding their way around and over the try line.

Under sixes, eights and 10s all enjoyed two games of footy. Coonabarabran were very competitive ensuring Gil had to work hard to put some points on the score sheet.

Panthers of the Week were Chase Hodges in the under eights and Archie O’Connor and Tom Mudford for the U10s. Jagger Hazelton was the Panther of the Week for Gilgandra U12s after a tough fought out game with the Unicorns taking the win 34-12.

The U16s went down 24-10 with Sam Dunn their Panther of the Week.

The U14s picked up the points from a forfeit and enjoyed the opportunity to take on their teammates in a friendly game among themselves.

Once again, thanks to all the parents that jumped into the canteen and manned the score tables, extra thanks to those that had to wash the footy jumpers this week!

The Panthers are back on the road now, heading to Coolah this weekend. Hopefully the weather behaves itself and everyone can enjoy some more welcome playing conditions!
