On Wednesday, July 10 just after 5pm, emergency services were called to reports of a truck carrying timber on fire along the Oxley Highway near Berida-Bullagreen Road. On arrival, crews found a B-double tipper with firewood well alight as a result of a wheel bearing failure on the prime mover.

FRNSW Gilgandra supported by multiple NSW RFS brigades quickly controlled the fire, containing it to the driver’s side rear of the prime mover and front right of the first trailer. The highway was closed in both directions for a few hours while emergency services, supported by local council and heavy tow, removed the truck and cleaned the road to be re-opened. There were no injuries to those involved in the accident.
