The Major league Baseball (MLB) season started a week ago and there has already been massive home runs! The media is asking are the baseballs juiced up or is it the bats? More about that later.
The MLB has 32 teams in total, in two leagues, the National League and the American League. The two leagues are then split into three divisions each for a total of six divisions!! Confused yet. The Teams battle it out for eight months and they play 162 games in the regular season.
The 2024 World Series Champion LA Dodgers are the Favorites to defend their title this year. It is called the World Series is not because MLB are saying the winner is the World Champion but because when the two leagues were completely separate, they didn’t have a series to decide the best team.
A newspaper, to create interest in the NL and AL champions playing off called it the World Series and the name has stuck.
A player to watch is Shoei Ohtani. He has the one of the biggest deals in sporting history and MLB history with a whopping $700 million over 10 years with the LA Dodgers. You might have seen him on TV smashing the ball out of the park, but he is also a pitcher, and he is pretty good at that too.
Last year he didn’t pitch because he had a surgery on his arm but this year he can pitch. If he continues like he is, he may go down as the greatest Baseballer of all time.

FUN FACT: This year see a new type of bat they are calling a Torpedo. Like a cricket bat where some players will get a different shape on the back to add weight in different spots, the torpedo bat the have more weigh in some spots player tend to hit the ball more.
The bat still the same shape and you have to look close to notice, but it is making a huge difference with some player hitting massive homers.
