The Flamin’ Galahs are flying into their grand final this week, and let me tell you, this team is anything but boring. I sat down with captain Makalia Gordon, vice-captain Paige Wilson for a rapid-fire Q&A that was half serious, half chaos - but all Flamin’ Galahs.
What’s your theme song for the grand final run?
Easy. Thunderstruck by AC/DC. It’s loud, it’s legendary, and it makes you feel like you can smash through a brick wall.
Who gives the best pregame pump-up speech?
Makalia! She’s the captain for a reason. She can turn goosebumps into game mode real quick.
Funniest teammate?
Unanimous: Grace Lummis. “The little funny one”. Basically a walking comedy show.
Weirdest superstition?
Caitlyn King – who must eat Chinese food the night before every game. If she skips it, who knows what could happen.
If you could add one famous player for the final?
The Levi Sisters. Especially Maddie Levi. She’d light it up.
Who’s got the best victory dance ready?
The whole team. Rumor is it’s a group number called ‘Jai Ho’, but they’re keeping it under wraps.
What’s the go-to post-game treat?
The ‘shot bucket’ from Coonamble Cellars … Dad told me not to ask anymore about that!!
Who’s secretly the fastest player?
Kelsey Hutchison. Silent but speedy.
If the team was an animal?
A flock of galahs – loud, talkative, always together. Basically sums it up.
Biggest season highlight?
Going undefeated and becoming minor premiers. First time in team history. That’s massive.
Who’s most likely to get a yellow card?
Jess Fleming. Already collected one. Could be on watch.

Answer: Everyone’s planned theirs. Some choices might not be suitable for public...
Biggest trash talker?
Peta Bradley. Her favorite line: “You can’t run without a head”.
