One-point thriller senior basketball grand final
The Bricklayers have beaten the Toucans 49-48 in the grand final of the senior basketball competition played on Monday, November 17.
Gilgandra Basketball Association spokesperson said the grand final was intense.
“The Toucans made an early lead and put pressure on the Bricklayers, who found it challenging to make a basket in the beginning of the game.
“As the minutes passed, the Bricklayers found the confidence to take on the taller Toucans players,” they said.
“Bricklayers caught up, leading by only one point at half-time. The intensity slowed in the second half, with the Toucans players having no extra substitutions to give them respite. Bricklayers pulled ahead, but the Toucans dug deep and narrowed the lead to only one point again.
“Despite fast play in the last two minutes and multiple attempts by both sides to make baskets, the game finished with Bricklayers winning the spring season.
“Many thanks to all the players who have been involved in the competition this season, and the Triple Bs team for refereeing the grand finals. Biggest thanks goes to the senior director Lucy for her hard work this year.”
