Mitch Represents NSW Country
Junior rugby union player Mitch Cosier had the privilege of representing the NSW Country U14s.
Junior rugby union player Mitch Cosier had the privilege of representing the NSW Country Under 14s team at inside centre in the final of the City versus Country carnival in Newcastle on Sunday, July 26.
The Country team never gave up, but it was a tough day out playing against far bigger opponents who were very skilled and well drilled, going down 41-nil in Newcastle.
“Mitch loved the opportunity to form new friendships, learn from some dedicated coaches and officials in the Country team and play at a higher level, keen to hopefully get another chance at it next year,” his mother Kristy Cosier said.
Mitch’s progression to the starting NSW Country U14s side came following his earlier selection in the Country Squad in June, where two Country teams played against City teams and then each other in the NSW Junior Rugby Union Regionals in Camden.
It was from here that the NSW Country U14s team was selected to play in Newcastle.
Mitch Cosier earlier represented Central West Bulls Rugby Union U14s in the recent NSW State Rugby Championships, a three-day event held in Dubbo across the June long weekend.
Central West had a great carnival, making the final, which they lost to Penrith 17-10.
To top off the great team result, Mitch was named his team’s players player for the grand final.
He was also one of seven Central West players to make the final NSW Country U14s side, coached by Dave Batey.
Mitch grew up playing junior league for the Gilgandra Panthers, but now attends school in Orange and has recently made the switch over to the 15-player code.
