Local Land Services (LLS) have issued a reminder to the public that it is illegal to collect firewood from travelling stock reserves, or TSRs.

Fines of up to $5,500 can apply to people caught carrying out illegal activity on TSRs under the Local Land Services Act 2013.

Fallen timber provides refuge, shelter and foraging resources for wildlife.

Members of the public are asked to report any illegal activity to Local Land Services or contact NSW Police.

“Be smart and source your firewood from a legal source,” the LLS Central West regional update for May 2024 newsletter concluded.
