Local cricketers blitz grand final
The Western Cricket Zone U12s grand final was held on Sunday.
The Western Cricket Zone U12s grand final was held on Sunday, February 25 with Western Zone Girls playing against Orange at the Country Club Oval in Orange. Local Gilgandra cricketers Georgia Allan, Lainey Walker, Evie Peart, and Jacqueline Hutchison were all part of the 2023/2024 squad.
The boys from Orange won the toss and elected to bat first. The Western Zone Girls started strong, claiming some early wickets from strong bowling and fielding.
Orange started to build their runs from a middle order partnership until the Western Zone team found some great opportunities to claim the final five wickets in five overs to have Orange all out for 141 at 35.2 overs.
The girls chased down the runs comfortably with some great partnerships in 29.3 overs to claim the win.
