Gilgandra Shire Council (GSC) welcomes entrepreneurs, innovators, local businesses, #LocalLegends, and all other business-minded individuals to express their interest in utilising the GIL Library Hub’s ‘Business Innovation Space’, which is now available for lease.
The GIL Library Hub has been a multi-year project of GSC and delivers on core action to drive the ‘Gilgandra Activation Blueprint’. This commitment is about delivering community assets, and enhancing and complementing existing services, to further actively encourage community and visitors to the CBD with a vibrant, attractive, and socially connected space.
The innovative building includes a dedicated Business Innovation Space, opening onto Miller Street – Gilgandra’s CBD - for new businesses to rent on a short-term lease to test out their business idea. Not only is the location in a prime position for exposure, it has dedicated access to Miller Street, allowing functional 24/7 access outside of GIL Library Hub opening hours.
Economic Development Committee (EDC) chair, Cr Nick White said the Business Innovation Space is a future-focused hub, designed with opportunity in mind.
“Council is please to be offering a an attractive, functional space where innovative businesses, ideas, startups and scale-ups alike are able to set-up and be supported and promoted. This opportunity will allow our local innovators to utilise the space to promote and showcase their business – with lease periods of up to six months available,” he said.
“GSC is excited to see the community-driven opportunities that will emerge through the leasing of this space, and encourages anyone interested to reach out to the team to discuss their BIG Ideas! The GIL Library Hub Business Innovation Space will support interested innovators through business training and networking opportunities, planning guidance, promotional opportunities and events – as identified as actions from GSC’s Gilgandra Activation Blueprint and Grow Gilgandra and Shop Local programs.”
Anyone leasing the space will have access to the installed cabinetry, lockable drawers and cupboards, a fully-functional sink area, as well as a mobile desk and two office chairs – ensuring you are ready to go from the moment you arrive.
The Business Innovation Space is now open to expressions of interest (EOI) to the public, for lease opportunities. To determine a lessee for the space, an EOI process will be undertaken, giving an opportunity to review potential economic benefits to the broader Gilgandra Region.
EOI’s will be assessed on weighted selection criteria including, but not limited to;
• timeframe,
• potential economic impact to Gilgandra Region,
• proposed business vision and plan, and
• fit with the Gilgandra Region business environment.
