Rugby League
The mighty panthers travelled to Coolah on Saturday for their second encounter with the combined Dunedoo/Coolah sides. From all reports all games were played in great spirit with all non-competitive sides registering at least one win for the day.
In our competitive age groups, the under 14s kept their unbeaten record intact stretching almost two years with another comprehensive victory wrapping up the game before half-time due to the 40-nil score line which meant the game was called off, but showed great sportsmanship to play the second half as non-competitive and sharing players to the other team so all kids could get some much-needed game time.
The U16s started full of confidence scoring the first try of the match to lead 6-nil early but it was Coolah who would take a 20 to 10 lead into half-time.
The second half Gil showed plenty of fight to get back into the match and at one stage looked to have got on equal terms after a brilliant chip and chase off a scrum only to be called back for being offside. We definitely had our chances to finish over the top of Coolah but unfortunately some ill-discipline cost us in the second half and Coolah got the chocolates 30 to 20.
This week we take on the Coonamble bears at home and it would be great to see a big crowd down there to cheer on our future stars.
