For her work experience, Gilgandra High School year 10 student Jessie Riley chose to learn hairdressing with Simone Sandry and Cheree Wilkinson at the Glossed Hair by Sim salon in Miller Street.
After a few days learning the tricks of the trade, Miss Riley told The Gilgandra Weekly that she was enjoying the experience of learning new things outside the regular classroom. Miss Riley indicated that she had learnt new skills such as "assisting in cleaning, she had learnt how to dye hair, and mastering the blowout hairstyle."
"Doing hairdressing has given me more thoughts into pursuing hairdressing as a career," said the budding hairstylist.
Miss Riley said she has gained valuable knowledge for the future by completing a week of work experience.
