BEST OF 2024: IGA hosts footy day fundraiser
On Friday, September 13, Carlos SUPA IGA held their first Footy Colours Fundraiser in support of children’s cancer research. Staff held a steak and sausage sizzle out front of IGA with soft drinks also on sale.

IGA has been recently involved in several community fundraisers, such as Daffodil Day and Jeans for Genes Day, but has not held their own fundraisers so far.
“We thought [a barbecue] was a good way to support children’s cancer efforts,” said Lesley Riley of IGA. “We want to make this an annual event going forward… we want to get out and involved in the local community more, especially because almost all our employees are locals.”
Lesley commented that the day had been a great success for her team; the barbecue had been advertised as 11am to 1pm, but people began turning up at 10am.
“People have also come in through the week to donate ahead of time if they knew they couldn’t make it today,” Lesley said.
“It’s been a great day. The weather is perfect for a barbecue; we were gonna go ahead rain, hail, or shine.”
From the barbecue, IGA raised a reported $618.10 to donate towards children’s cancer research and support.
