Following a busy year, members, family and friends came together on Saturday to enjoy the usual Christmas barbecue.

Gordon Evans and Bob Rogers were the chefs on this occasion, with salads prepared to accompany the meat, which was cooked to perfection.

Dessert was the customary fruit salad and ice cream.

It was great to see member Rob Beveridge there from Cooee Lodge, along with Jack Burrell accompanied by son Neil (who I believe signed up as member on the day), Neil Cooper brought wife Dawn along, Neil Bunter had his granddaughter with him (she was intrigued by our Santa), Jack Green had invited his girlfriend (she won the lucky door prize), new member Marg Schier helped out in the kitchen as did president Phil and wife Roz, who did the washing up. Bev Rogers managed to make it, although her invitation through husband Bob is ‘still in the mail’. It was lovely to see Alan Smith there as he is usually too busy working to attend.

President Phil thanked all the volunteers for their work, outlined all that had been achieved over the past year and the work that still needs to be completed.

The recent installation of skylights in the large shed have certainly made a huge difference.

Coffee, Christmas cake and a chat finished off a very enjoyable time together, and we look forward to continuing to promote Gilgandra and its history to the local community
