The only match to proceed in round three as harvest break was called a week early last week, Gular (142 all out in 38.4 overs) batted first before dismissing Town Services (TS) for 105 (all out in 31.3 overs).

Jaylem Peters (39), Grant Millgate (37 not out) and Tyne Chapman (25) played key roles with the bat to get Gular to a competitive total at McGrane Oval, Gilgandra. Levi Peters (11) also chipped in.

Alex Sutherland (4-28 off eight overs), skipper Ashley Hazelton (3-6 off 6.4 overs) and Dustin Foran (2-20 off six overs) all bowled well for TS.

In reply, only Foran (29), opener Liam Zell (21) and Adam Hazelton (13) reached double figures as TS crashed from 0-23 to 4-36 and never fully recovered.

Levi Peters (3-20 off eight overs) and Jaylem Peters (2-20 off eight overs) had great all-round days while Jerome Chatfield (2-16 off eight overs) and captain Brandon Hammond (2-3 off 1.3 overs) also bowled well. Gular has now defeated Biddon-Tooraweenah (round one), Gidgee (round two), and TS (round three) to begin this season with three wins from as many matches.

All three sides Gular has beaten played finals in 2024/2025, with premiers Biddon-Tooraweenah and Town Services meeting in last season’s grand final.

There is not expected to be any play in the Bendigo Bank ABC Shield for the next three Saturdays as many players swap fielding for driving headers and chaser bins with the local harvest in full swing.

The remaining GDCA round three matches (Gidgee versus Coonabarabran, Biddon-Tooraweenah meeting Dunedoo and USC Marthaguy against Curban) will be played on Saturday, November 22 before the competition resumes in full in round four on Saturday, November 29.

In representative cricket, the Brewery Shield is scheduled to commence this weekend, with Gilgandra set to host Bourke on Saturday, November 1 according to the draw on Play Cricket.

The Brewery Shield will have four sides in 2025/2026, with Gilgandra set to play Cobar at Cobar on Saturday, November 15 before hosting Dubbo at McGrane Oval on Sunday, November 30, Play Cricket reports.
