Good barley season for local growers, says GrainCorp
GrainCorp reports harvest slowing across QLD and NSW

GrainCorp is reporting harvest activity is easing across Queensland and parts of northern NSW. Decent rainfall has boosted prospects for growers particularly across southern Queensland and into the Moree, Narrabri and Werris Creek regions, says the company.
“In NSW, receivals continued steadily across Central West NSW and further south in the Wyalong and Temora regions, although weekend rainfall has slowed progress in many areas. Warmer weather forecast over the coming days should help operations pick back up across the state,” GrainCorp reported in this week’s harvest update.
GrainCorp has previously been reporting tonne receivals at or close to a million tonnes a week, with that failing to 747,300 this reporting period, confirming the signs of harvest easing in the state.
Queensland also reported only 19,000 tonnes in the past week. Down from 87,400 the week prior.
GrainCorp's Dubbo North area manager, Jason Iffland, said harvest across GrainCorp's Dubbo North cluster, which includes sites at Gilgandra, Coonamble and Gulargambone, has been strong this year, kicking off earlier than usual and delivering good quality across the board.
"Despite the early start, the sites were well prepared from a site maintenance, equipment and recruitment perspective, with additional mobile equipment at all sites to improve turnaround times and efficiency for growers.
"Across the sites, GrainCorp has received over 570Kmt, and counting, with the majority of those tonnes being wheat. Barley had a favourable season, with more tonnes coming into Gilgandra and Coonamble than expected.
"We've had some really positive feedback from growers in the region this harvest, and the team is looking forward to continuing to deliver for growers as the final receivals come through the gates over the coming weeks," said Mr Iffland.
