Social bowls
At social bowls on Wednesday October 7, we had 11 players and a million flies turn up to join in the fun.
The winners on the day were the team of Mal Altmann, Stacey Reynolds and Larry Clarke, who played swinger. They defeated James L’Homme, Garry Garbutt and swinger Clarke 12 ends to four.
In the second game Harmony Raines, Dave Jones and Barry Johnson defeated Mike Newstead, Bob Rogers and Noel Raines 17 shots to six.
For Sunday’s social bowls, only eight turned up to play. The winners were Dave Jones and Jill Hankins over Peg Mules and Mal Altmann nine ends to seven.
In the second game, Baden and Dallas Fisher defeated Norm Lummis and Barry Johnson.
Great trip to Dubbo
On Saturday, October 10, a contingent of 12 bowlers and one Canadian spectator made the journey to Dubbo Macquarie club to play in a Memorial Day tournament.
We had a good result overall with Wenden Riley, Jill Hankins and Evan Kew claiming fifth spot.
The team of Danial and Tracy Riley and David Duffy also claimed fourth spot. Well done all.
Stacey Renolds’ brother was our lone fan. He spent the day enjoying a cool and fly-free environment inside the clubhouse.
Championships
Championships are coming down to the wire.
In A-grade Dylan Marchant defeated Andrew Allport 25-9.
Noel Raines just held on against Danial Riley in a hotly-contested match.
Noel eventually won 25-22
It was tied at 22-all going into the last end before Noel ended the match with three shots to win.
Blake Cook defeated Tracey Riley. Cook also defeated Andrew Townsend in a B-grade singles championships match (25-9).
That’s it for this week.
Next week, several Gilgandra teams will travel to Binnaway for their annual tournament.
