Gilgandra Golf Club News - March 12-15, 2026

Veterans, a bisque par, match plays and a stableford were on the card at Gilgandra Golf Club last week.

Veterans

On Thursday, March 12, we had 11 veterans who played in a nine-hole stroke. The winner was Graeme Holland with a 34 nett.

Second place went to John McWhirter with a 35 1/2 nett on a countback from Rob Hay who had the same score.

John also won the nearest the pin.

Average ball went to Bob Dwyer.

Rob Hay won the least amount of putts.

Weekend golf starts with Bisque Par

On Saturday, March 14, we had a fantastic field of 25 golfers who played in an 18-hole Bisque Par which was sponsored by Latitude Liquor from Dubbo.

The winner on the day was John McWhirter with plus five (+5).

Dylan Wright came in second with plus three.

We had to have a four-way countback for the minor placings, as a quartet of players all came in with plus one (+1).

Geoff Lummis came third, Lex Scotti was fourth, Bob Dwyer finished fifth and the unlucky Russell Anderson was sixth.

Nearest the pin winners were: 2/11 - Russell Anderson; 4/13 - Dean Ferguson; 7/16 - Ash Hazleton.

Matchplay Results for Saturday: Lex Scotti 4 and 2 defeated Ash Hazleton. Dean Ferguson 3 and 2 defeated Bill Welsh. Lyle Horwood 3 and 2 defeated Matt Zell.

On Sunday, March 15, we had 17 golfers who played an 18-hole stableford, in perfect weather for golf.

The winner was Nick White with 38 points. Second place went to Ike Morris with 37 points. Geoff Lummis came in third on a countback from Nic Wright. Both players had 34 points.

Gilgandra Toyota nearest the pin was won by Ash Hazleton.

Ike Morris had an eagle on the 12th hole.

Matchplay result: Adam and Ash Hazleton 1 up defeated Tony and Jacob Wilson.
