Wednesday’s social bowls had 19 starters last week. The winners with the most ends and a win were Trevor Johnson, David Jones (swinger), and Bruce Parker. These lads defeated Noel Cornish and Mal Altmann, 22-11, 13 ends to five. In other games, Gavin Glover and Barry Johnson defeated James L’Homme and Dylan Marchant, 19-14. James Rogers and Stacey Reynolds had a win against Mouse Holland and Garry Garbutt, 18-14. Ed Wlodarczyk, Bob Rogers, and Jayden Doran defeated Mike Newstead, Christine Howchin, and Rod Howchin, 18-10.

Sunday’s social bowls had 16 bowlers who enjoyed a game on Sunday for social bowls. The winners were Dave Jones and Danial Riley who defeated Leroy Gregory and Shaun ‘Sharky’ Marchant, 24-13. The remaining games saw Andrew Townsend, Mal Altmann, and Gil Riley defeat Gavin Glover, Wenden Riley, and Rod Howchin, 21-14. Stacey Reynolds, Jayden Doran, and Dylan Marchant defeated Tracey Riley, Bruce Parker, and Fox Raines, 19-18.

Fours Championships on Saturday had a great turn up of 16 bowlers who played the first round of the Fours Championships on Saturday, in what ended up being very wet conditions. Lloyd Gwyn (sub for Shayne Barwick), Wenden Riley, Danial Riley (sub for Bob Dicks), and Shaun Marchant had a win against Ed Wlodarczyk, Jayden Doran, Barry Johnson, and Norm Lummis, 20-15. It was neck-and-neck up until the 16th end when the Norm Lummis skipped team got stuck on 11 for seven ends. While this was happening, the Shaun Marchant-skipped team kept the scoreboard ticking over to claim the victory. Shaun’s team will now play Maxine, Leroy, Jo, and Fox Raines in the next round. The remaining game resulted in a win for Gavin Glover (sub for Andrew Townsend), Bruce Parker, Tom Ledger, and Rambo Young. These boys defeated Dave Jones, Bob Rogers, Blake Cook, and Dylan Marchant, 26-17. The man of the match in this game was Rambo who played some spectacular game-saving shots. Rambo also won the smartest bowler of the day award as he was the only one who thought to bring a raincoat. All the bowlers were quite wet at the end of their matches, but well done for completing the games so we can move onto the next round.
