President Rebekah Makila welcomed all members and guests to the meeting. The National Anthem was played, followed by the recital of the CWA Motto, and apologies from those who could not attend. Agriculture/Environment Study for 2025
Fauna: Frog.
Flora: Saltbush.
Foe: Common Minor Birds.
Primary Product: Cut Flowers.
This is a topic that has been in the media lately. Many people are unaware of the percentage of cut flowers that are imported. At least half (50 per cent) of all cut flowers sold in Australia are imported which is very concerning.
International Report
We come to the closure of our 2024 Country of Study, that being France. Many events were held during the year. We had school children participation and formation of the country of study including power point presentations, activities, and competitions. Our Country of Study for 2025 will be The Republic of Korea (South Korea), an East Asian nation on the southern half of the Korean Peninsula.
Cultural Report
Rebekah won second place in the photo competition at the recent Macquarie Group Cultural Day. Over the past few months, the evening branch has actively contributed to various community events, showcasing our members' dedication and many talents. Our involvement with participation in the Goin’ to Gil Weekend event, Australia Day, Gilgandra Film Festival, our international dinner, supporting Gilgandra families in need, catering for funerals, and more. These are just a few examples of our efforts as we continue to support and engage in a wide range of activities that strengthen our community.
