Accreditation Audit Homelessness Service
Starting from June 30, 2024, all Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) funded homelessness providers must be accredited as a contractual requirement. Council conducted a self-assessment and provided documentation for review by an independent assessor. The evaluation included interviews with Gilgandra Shire Council executive leadership representatives, councillors, Gilgandra Homelessness and Housing Support (GHHS) service staff, and GHHS clients.
The final assessment report was forwarded to Australian Service Excellence Standards (ASES), showing that council is fully compliant with no corrective action necessary. Council and its staff were praised for their “strong social conscience, providing exceptional service, policies, and operational procedures, and for their interconnectedness with the local community and complementary services,” in the June business paper.
