Aged Care Capital Assistance Program

Council has been successful in one of its applications for the Aged Care Capital Assistance Program. The Commonwealth government, through the Department of Health and Aged Care, made $135 million of funding available across four streams of infrastructure. This was a competitive opportunity; 297 applications sought over $1 billion for projects. Gilgandra Shire Council was successful in its application for ‘Aged Care Worker Accommodation’ funding. The grant funding is for $2.5 million. Two other applications were unsuccessful.

Gilgandra Region Community Health Vision

Draft documentation for the Community Health Vision has been completed and presented to council. Lake Advisory was consulted to assist in developing the health strategy. This involved consultation with stakeholders including Cooee Lodge, and the Gilgandra Pharmacy. Community workshops were also held in April 2024.

Lake Advisory identified areas of focus to be addressed as part of the Community Health Vision. These include addressing disparities in health service access; increasing mental health support within the region; enhancing infrastructure that supports active lifestyles; improving transport links and promoting inclusive programs; and strengthening already existing local health infrastructure and workforce.
