Council is excited to announce the launch of "It's GREAT,” a local events grant funding initiative for the 2023/24 year.
Council is excited to announce the launch of "It's GREAT,” a local events grant funding initiative for the 2023/24 year. In line with the Community Strategic Plan and Gilgandra Activation Blueprint, Gilgandra Shire Council (Council) in collaboration with the Economic Development Committee has committed a total of $50,000 to local businesses and community groups to assist in the development and expansion of events within the region.
Councillor Gail Babbage, chair of the Economic Development Committee, says, “We're excited to announce the launch of the 'It's GREAT Program. This is an exciting initiative that builds on and recognises our community's passion for vibrant events that bring joy, culture, and economic growth to our region.”
"With a total funding pool of $50,000, we’re inviting all local businesses and community groups to think big on their events, whether it be a sporting event, food and leisure event, art and culture, or in conjunction with the Goin’ to Gil weekend festival, we encourage people to apply for a share of this exciting opportunity."
The It’s GREAT Program aims to encourage events that complement our Community Strategic Plan and revitalisation projects, develop a vibrant culture and infrastructure that supports and grows local events, maximise the contribution events make to tourism and economic development in the region, and also aims to recognise the contribution of local events to the social and cultural development of residents and visitors to Gilgandra.
