Council election decided at count eight

Gilgandra's two newer candidates have secured a spot on the next term of council

Gilgandra's nine shire councillors will be Ian Freeth, Doug Batten, Madeline Foran, Ashley Walker, Paul Mann, Nicholas White, Greg Peart, Amber Bunter, and Brian Mockler.

The results have been released online by the NSW Electoral Commission after the preference count was conducted on Monday, September 30 with the final results to be officially announced later this week.

Councillors Ian Freeth, Doug Batten, Madeline Foran, Ashley Walker, and Paul Mann were all elected on the first preference count.

Nicholas White was elected at preference count three, followed by Greg Peart at the fourth count, with Amber Bunter and Brian Mockler elected at the eighth and final count.

The remaining candidate, Gail Babbage, was a councillor last term. She was unelected at the eighth count - the difference in votes only 11 between Babbage and returned councillor Mockler.
