Council approves development applications at meeting

Gilgandra Shire Council approved three major development applications at its ordinary meeting on September 16, 2025, clearing the way for new housing and commercial activity across the shire.

Dual Occupancy at Hercules Place

Development Application 2025/608 for 1 Hercules Place was approved for a detached dual occupancy. The project required a variation to setback standards under the Gilgandra Development Control Plan 2011.

Council supported the variation and granted consent subject to conditions in line with the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.

Multi-Dwelling Project in Myrtle Street

Development Application 2025/603 for 68 Myrtle Street was approved for a six unit residential development. The proposal sought variations to planning standards relating to car parking, floor space, privacy and clothes drying. Council accepted these variations and approved the project subject to conditions. Councillors Peart and Walker declared interests and did not participate in the decision.

Change of Use at Warren Road

Development Application 2025/604 for 97 Warren Road was approved for a change of use to light industry with an ancillary office. The application included a request to vary fencing standards under Chapter 10.8 of the Development Control Plan 2011. Approval was granted subject to conditions.

Councillors Peart and Walker were absent from the discussion and vote due to declared interests.

Planning Outcomes

All three approvals were determined in accordance with the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.

Conditions of consent were adopted as outlined in the meeting papers and councillor voting was recorded in compliance with the Local Government and Planning Legislation Amendment (Political Donations Act) 2008.
