“We operated for three months, realised the shop was too small, and now we’ve moved into a beautiful showroom.”

Mrs McGrath said she was “very pleased” with the results of their grand re-opening, and of the volume of donations the shop had received. As a Community Op Shop, all funds raised are retuned to the community. “None of it leaves town,” she commented.

Mrs McGrath and her team wish to see continued support for the op shop and to have more and more items come in.

“Gil doesn’t have a lot of shops, so it really helps locals. We think [the op shop] is needed. It’s really needed,” said Kim Hiscox, a team member at the store.

Josie Dawson, another committed member of the op shop team, commented that “Everything we hope to do here is for the benefit of the community. Everything is priced reasonably and we can help save on waste”.

Mrs McGrath invites members of the local community and beyond to come and visit the new op shop, and donations are always welcome.
