The Warren and District Jockey Club hosted a successful afternoon of country racing on Saturday, March 21, with the trainer and jockey combination of Jane Clement and Jacob Stiff stealing the limelight. The pair enjoyed a standout day on the five-race card, securing two victories to lead the regional results.
The first win came in the third race, the Broomie Benchmark 50 Handicap over 1200 metres. St Roy, prepared by Clement and handled expertly by Stiff, found plenty in the straight to hold off Billabong Rose, trained by Brett Thompson. The stable also showed its depth in the same event, with Adviser finishing a solid third.
While Clement was back in the winner's circle for the final event of the day, the Jacky Howe Benchmark 74 Handicap over 1400 metres, it was jockey Brooke Stower who steered the Clement-trained Red Beryl to a strong finishing burst to claim the honors. The stable's productive afternoon was further bolstered by Macleay finishing in third position under Stiff.
Earlier in the program, the Brett Robb stable opened proceedings with a victory in the Jumbuck Maiden Handicap. The well-supported four-year-old mare Still Excited, ridden by Izzy Neale, proved much too good for her rivals. Strassman and Kingdom Heart filled the minor placings.
Other winners on the card included Press Gaze for Brett Thompson in the second event and Friskee Frog for Sharon Jeffries in the fourth, with the latter providing Jacob Stiff with another successful ride to complete his personal double for the meeting.
