Changed traffic conditions on the Newell and Oxley Highways
Roadworks will be taking place on regional highways from September to December 2026.
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Newell and Oxley Highways for essential maintenance work.
The work includes heavy patching and rehabilitating the pavement at various locations including:
Newell Highway
Coonabarabran to Narrabri
Moree to Goondiwindi
Oxley Highway
Coonabarabran to Mullaley

Work will be carried out from Monday, September 21, to Friday, December 11, between 7am and 5pm Monday-to-Friday, weather permitting.
Single lane closures, intermittent stopping and reduced speed limits of 40km/h will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.
A speed limit of 60km/h will in place outside work hours at some locations until sealing is complete.
Motorists should drive to the conditions, follow the directions of signs and traffic control, and allow up to five minutes of additional travel time.
