Carols on the Castlereagh this Sunday
This Sunday, the annual Carols on the Castlereagh event returns to the lawns of the Coo-ee Heritage Centre on the banks of the Castlereagh River in Gilgandra, presented by the Combined Christian Churches of Gilgandra.

Attendees are invited to enjoy a free barbecue or bring a picnic dinner, with a wet-weather venue ready at the Gilgandra Shire Hall.
The event is free, and guests are encouraged to bring a chair and aeroguard. As in previous years, the program blends traditional carol singing with family-friendly activities and the Christian message of Christmas.
Last year’s event drew around 300 people and featured patting real sheep, a children’s dress-up nativity, painting stations, and treats including lolly bags, chips, and frozen desserts.
Performances will be given by the Combined Churches, Coo-ee Choir, and local school students. The Coo-ee Heritage Centre offers a scenic riverside setting with shade and open grounds suitable for families.
Carols on the Castlereagh is valued not only as a festive occasion but also for its role in strengthening community ties. The event highlights the Christian significance of Christmas, encourages children’s involvement and reinforces local connection.
With its blend of music, storytelling and inclusive activities, Carols on the Castlereagh 2025 promises another memorable evening for the community. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, settle in and enjoy a night celebrating the spirit of Christmas along the Castlereagh River.
