Bunter family wins 2025 Gilgandra Show Society Field Wheat Competition
The entries were judged in early October by agronomist with Nutrien Ag Solutions, Chris Turner.

Organiser Daniel Volkofsky said despite a tough finish, the majority of the season has been kind to the district’s crops - producing some phenomenal entries.
He said the results however, certainly didn’t just come down to rainfall and luck, as all entries showed to have been managed extremely well.
“All of the wheat that was judged had a clean fallow prior to sowing and were sown on the back of break crops (legumes the previous year for all except one).
“Also disease pressure had been kept low and weeds controlled admirably.
“Congratulations to the Bunter family, who won with a crop of Sunmax wheat estimated to yield 7.3t/ha.”
This crop will now be considered for the northern region competition, as part of the lead up to the state, AgShows NSW Wheat Competition.
“Thank you to all who participated. The competition can only continue if people enter their crops,” said Daniel.
