Bowls Report
Wednesday’s social bowls, Shoey’s birthday and Championships Action, Mid-West Open Reserve State Fours - Section Two.

Wednesday’s Social Bowls
Twelve bowlers enjoyed a game of social bowls last Wednesday, July 23. The winners with the highest winning margin were Kelly Young, Jo Raines, and Rambo Young (again) who defeated Maxine Elsom (again), Bruce Parker, and Gil Riley, 18-14. Kelly Young was the standout player as she played great bowls.
The remaining game featured a win to Ed Wlodarczyk, Garry Garbutt, and Noel Raines who defeated Mal Altmann, Dave Jones, and Gary Harvey (Glenbrook), 18-16.
Bowls played to celebrate Shoey’s birthday
Saturday afternoon, July 26, was the Shayne ‘Shoey’ Barwick Happy Birthday Bowls. This was a great afternoon and night of bowls, fun and a feed of which Shayne and Michelle provided to the bowlers and also the members at the club on Saturday evening.
The winners of the afternoon were Louise (Dubbo), Tracey Riley and Wenden Riley who defeated Michele Doherty, Leroy Gregory and Shaun “Sharky’ Marchant, 16-15.
The remaining game finished in a 10-all draw when Kayleb Doherty, Maxine Elsom, and Shayne Barwick played Dave Jones, Bob Rogers, and Rambo. This was a very enjoyable game and a draw was a good result for yours truly who would have had a set of bowls for sale if Rambo had of beaten me three times in a week.
Championships Action
Three games of championship bowls were played over the weekend. First up on Saturday, July 26 in the B Pairs, Jayden Doran and Blake Cook played Jarryd Eason and Bruce Parker. This match resulted in a win to Jayden and Blake with the score being 25-7.
On Sunday, July 27 two games of A Pairs were contested. David Duffy and Danial Riley defeated Mal Altmann and Brent McKenzie, 21-13, while the Marchant boys, Shaun and Dylan, had a win against Jarryd Eason and Garry Raines, 25-10.
Not much to report on these games as I, along with any other bowlers, were nowhere to be seen on Sunday as it was just a tad cold to be sociable for social bowls.
Mid-West Open Reserve State Fours - Section Two
On Saturday, July 26 four of our bowlers played in the Mid-West Open Reserve State Fours Section Two at Coonamble.
The team of Evan Kew, Dylan Marchant, Garry Raines, and Noel Raines defeated Coonamble in their round one game, 29-14.
In the final they defeated another Coonamble side, 30-13.
These lads will now move into the next round at a venue and date to be advised.
