A Pairs Championships
Two games of A Pairs Championships were played during the past week. It pains me and it is under much sufferance that have to do a write up on the first game which was played on Thursday, July 17.
This match between Mouse Holland and Rambo Young against Maxine Elsom and Norm Lummis.
Maxine and Norm jumped out of the barriers first and held the lead until the 10th end when the scores got to nine-all.
They then got their nose back in front and again held the lead until the 18th end when the scores were locked at 15-all.
On the 19th end Mouse stepped onto the mat and advised very confidently that, this is where the cream rises to the top.
As a result Mouse and Rambo won that end and gained the lead for the first time in the game.
Maxine and Norm won the next end with the scores being 16-all with one end left to play.
This is where the A Pairs Championships ended for the Norm Lummis-skipped team as Mouse and Rambo claimed two shots on the very last end and will now move into the semi-finals with their 18-16 victory.
The normally media shy Rambo was all talk after the game and it was very fortunate for his opposition that he had go home before dark to feed his precious chooks. A great game played in all good spirits. The second game of A Pairs was played on Saturday, July 19.
This game resulted in a good win to David Duffy and Danial Riley who defeated Andrew Townsend and Jayden Doran, 26-7.
Wednesday’s Social Bowls
Eleven bowlers enjoyed a game of social bowls on Wednesday, July 16.
The winners with the highest winning margin were Mal Altmann, Garry Garbutt (swinger) and Bruce Parker who defeated the Godber twins and Annette (visitor), 17-15.
In the remaining game, the win went to Mike Newstead, Bob Rogers, and Tracey Riley who defeated Brian (visitor), Mouse Holland and Dave Jones, 15-14.
Sunday’s Social Bowls
Sunday, July 20 social bowls had nine starters. The winners with the most ends were Tracey Riley, Dave Jones (swinger) and Norm Lummis who defeated Bruce Parker and Rambo, 19-10, 11 ends to five.
This was a sweet victory for Norm after being defeated by Rambo on Thursday.
It seems in this match that Rambo missed Mouse’s calming influence and guidance.
In the remaining game, the win went to Baden Fisher and Dylan Marchant who defeated Mal Altmann and Brent McKenzie, 25-8.
