Social Bowls

A good field of 15 bowlers enjoyed social bowls last Wednesday (March 25).

The winners with the lowest winning margin were James L’Homme, Garry Garbutt (swinger) and Mouse Holland who defeated Larry Clarke, and Bruce Parker, 16-15.

In other games Mick Newstead and Mick Mendooran defeated Jill Hankins and Jayden Doran, 17-12. Mal Altmann, Steve Mendooran and Bob Rogers had a 20-9 win against Ed Wlodarczyk, Peg Mules and Rod Howchin.

Supporting Anne

On Saturday, March 28 we held a support day for Anne, who is our bar attendant at the club.

Anne will be on leave for an extended period of time while she undergoes treatment.

Members of the club wish Anne all the very best on this journey. She will be greatly missed and in everyone’s thoughts.

A great turn up of 48 players attended the day along with a lot of spectators who enjoyed the bowls listening to some great tunes from the WAR-FM team who were onsite with their van.

The winners of the bowls were James L’Homme, Maxine Elsom and Gil Riley who defeated Peg Mules, Jayden Doran and Bob Dicks, 22-6.

The runners-up were Anne’s son Chris Maddocks, Steve Mendooran, and Rod Howchin who rounded up Paul Elsom, Mick Mendooran and Baden Fisher, 22-14.

It goes without saying how very supportive our community is and much appreciation goes to everyone who contributed to the day be it by playing bowls, buying tickets, donations, serving up and washing up.

At the end of the day everyone enjoyed a meal which was provided and prepared by Shoey ‘Chef’ Barwick and his wife Michele.

The karaoke-kid Wenden Riley kept the songs going well into the night.
