Social Bowls

There were 13 starters for social bowls last Wednesday, February 18.

The overall winners with the least ends plus the victory were Mike Newstead, Bruce Parker, and Gil Riley.

These lads defeated James L’Homme, Jill Hankin, and Jayden Doran, 16-11.

In the remaining game the win went to Dave Jones, Steve, Garry Garbutt (swinger), and Bob Rogers who defeated Mal Altmann, Mouse Holland, and Mike, 11-8.

Pennants Bowls - fours fire against West Dubbo, while sevens go down to Baradine.

On the Pennants scene the fours played at home on Sunday, February 22 against West Dubbo who soon after lunch, headed back south on the Newell after being soundly defeated by the Gil crew.

The score was 9.5 to 0.5, 71-45. The half-point for Dubbo comes about by the result of a draw in one of the games.

The team of the ‘Birthday Boy’ Shaun Marchant, Blake Cook, Dylan Marchant and Noel Raines won their game 22-12.

Evan Kew, Mal Altmann, Garry Raines and Trevor Briese had the 22-all draw. Tracey Riley, David Duffy, Brent McKenzie and Danial Riley had a great 31-19 win.

So good was their win that Trevor Briese declared them to be the winners of the team award of the day.

The sevens didn’t fare so well on their trip to Baradine. No scores were available at the time of writing but I did gain the overall result from the team captain, Gil Riley that the sevens had a good day but were clean sheeted 10-0, 71-45.

Next Sunday, March 1 both teams will be playing at home with the fours taking on Narromine for their round four game. The sevens will play Coonamble.

The selected teams will be indicated on the noticeboard at the club.
