Bowls News - February 17, 2026
Social and pennants bowls made for a busy week on the greens.

Social Bowls
Twelve bowlers enjoyed social bowls last Wednesday, February 11. The winners with a very comfortable win at that were Mike Newstead, Jill Hankins, and Garry Garbutt who defeated James L’Homme, Mouse Holland, and Jayden Doran, 24-4. Wilbur Batten, Bruce Parker, and Bob Rogers were defeated by Dave Stockings, Leroy and Dave Jones, 14-12.
Pennants
On the road again over last weekend were the pennants bowlers.
On Saturday (February 14), the number seven team ventured to Coonamble where they were defeated 9-1, 74 points to 45.
Mike Newstead, Bob Rogers, Jayden Doran and Gil Riley had a 24-18 win. Dave Jones, Leroy, Jill Hankins and Norm Lummis didn’t have such a good day out in being defeated 33-7.
Jill Hankins was the only standout bowler, by a country mile, in this game according to skip Norm.
Stacey Reynolds, Jarryd Eason, Baden Fisher and Bob Dicks lost 23-17.
On Sunday (February 15), the Gil bowlers had a closer than the score indicated loss to Coonabarabran 9-1, 58 points to 46.
Norm Lummis’ team were defeated 28-15. Gil Riley’s team were again the only victors with a 15-12 win. Bob Dicks’ team had a very close 18–16 loss.
The sevens bowlers will travel to Baradine this Saturday February 21. The number four pennants team travelled to Narromine on Saturday, February 14. The team had a 9-1, 65-64 point loss.
Evan Kew, Wenden Riley, Shaun Marchant and Trevor Briese recorded a 27-20 win. Jo Raines, Blake Cook, Dylan Marchant and Noel Raines had a very close 23-22 loss.
Tracey Riley, David Duffy, Brent McKenzie and Garry Raines were defeated 22-15.
With no love shown by the opposition on Valentines Day February 14 for either the Fours or the Sevens teams, the fours did come out on Sunday in gaining a very good win in their away game at Nyngan.
No individual results are available but apparently Evan Kew played outstanding bowls, according to himself, but this was backed up by his skip Trevor who also mentioned Wenden Riley who played great bowls.
This Sunday (February 22) the fours play at home against West Dubbo.
