Wednesday’s Social Bowls
Fourteen bowlers enjoyed a game of social bowls last Wednesday, April 30. The winners, with the most ends and a win, were a fairly handy team of Mal Altmann, Bob Rogers and Rambo who defeated Ed Wlodarczyk, Dave Jones, and Ray Riley, 28-7.
In other games, Mick (Mendooran) and Dylan Marchant defeated Steve (Mendooran) and Garry Garbutt, 20-14. Mike Newstead and Leroy Gregory had a 21-12 win against James L’Homme and Jayden Doran.
Triples Championships
A few first round games of triples championships have been completed. Tracey Riley, David Duffy, and Danial Riley had a good win against Larry Clark, Jayden Doram, and Evan Kew, 35-10.
Tracey was the standout player in this match and carried her two teammates to victory. The remaining games saw a very close win go to Mal Altmann, Bruce Parker, and Dylan Marchant who defeated the McKenzie crew being, Lucy, Macca, and Brent, 20-18.
Brent’s team lead all the way until the 20th end when Dylan and his teammates pounced in gaining two shots on the last two ends. Well done bowlers!
Jo Raines, Matthew Thompson, and Noel Raines gained a hard fought victory against three very experienced bowlers in, Mouse Holland, Bob Dicks, and Rambo, 26-17.
Maxine Elsom, Blake Cook, and Norm Lummis had a win, in what was a very enjoyable game of bowls, against Michele Doherty, Shayne Barwick, and Baden Fisher, 31-14.
The man of the match was Blake who played great bowls for his team.
Blue Milgate’s 100th birthday
Quite a few bowlers were on hand on Saturday afternoon to help celebrate our life member Blue Milgate’s 100th birthday.
Bob Dicks who is also a life member presented Blue, on behalf of the club, with a Gil Sporties Life Member bowls shirt.
Bob commented on all that Blue had done and been involved with at the club over many years. The club members and bowlers wish Blue a very happy birthday.
