Championships action also held across busy weekend
Three games of Championships were also played on the weekend.
In the only game of 21 played, Wenden Riley showed no mercy in his good win against Mouse Holland, 21-4. No excuses came from Mouse as Wenden just played better bowls on the day.
In the 150 Consistency, Mouse did claim the victory against Shayne Barwick, in what was a very close game, 150-138.
In another close, and what was predicted to be a very long game, it came down to stamina and determination when Rambo Young defeated Jo Raines, 155-137 on the 30th end.
The scores were locked at 136 all on the 28th end and it was at this point that Rambo got his wild up and finished with a great tally of 19 shots on the last two ends.
As shown in the photo attached, after playing for four hours, in trying conditions, Jo and Rambo were the first ones on the water slide that was put up for the kids for Australia Day.
On the representative scene, Noel Raines recently competed in the Zone Reserve singles in Parkes.
After winning both the quarter and semi-finals by 25-13, Noel then progressed to the final. In what was a very close game, that came down to the wire, the Fox was defeated by one shot, after the scores were level going into the last end.
Gilgandra team wins fours section of tournament at Lake Cargelligo
Also on the road over the weekend, a team of bowlers travelled to Lake Cargelligo for their annual bowls tournament.
This team consisted of, Brent McKenzie, Danial Riley, Garry Raines and Noel Raines.
The team Manager, who would have had his time cut out managing these lads, was David Duffy.
There would have been big celebrations when they took out the fours section of the tournament.
An added bonus in the cash department, was the fact that they also won the Calcutta.
The boys parted ways in the singles and all bar Danial lost their first game.
Danial did make the semi but that’s where it ended, as it did for Noel and Garry who also made it to the semis of the pairs.
