Veterans, Martin Clift Memorial on Good Friday, Saturday’s 18-hole stableford, Sunday’s 18-hole par and Monday’s 18-hole stableford

Veterans

The veterans started our five days of golf. We had 13 veterans play on Thursday afternoon, April 17.

The winner was John McWhirter with a 32 nett for his round. Ken Williams came in second with 32 1/2 nett. With a score of 33 1/2 Gil Riley came third.

Mark Barwick won the average ball. With 10 putts for his round, Lex Scotti won the least amount of putts.

Martin Clift Memorial on Good Friday

On Good Friday we played the Martin Clift Memorial four-person ambrose with 17 teams playing.

With 14 teams of four players, one team of three players and two teams of five players, 69 players competed on the day.

The winning team were Ian Clift, Shaun Brownlow, Mel Clift, Ollie Clift and B. Harrison with 53 1/2 nett.

M Kaltenbacher, C Kaltenbacher, I Grimshaw and A Gorman came in second with 56 nett.

Third place went to Mark and Aiden Hinchcliffe, Geoff and Allan Lummis with 56 1/2 nett.

Lyle Horwood, L. Johnson, Bill Welsh and Ken Williams came in third with 56 1/2 nett.

Coming in fifth with 56 1/2 nett were Ike Morris, Ayrton and Graeme Holland and A Nicholson.

Nearest the pin winners were:

2/11: J Fuller

4/13: Mark Brownlow

7/16: Maree Townsend

Best scratch were the team of Ike Morris, Ayrton Holland, Graeme Holland and A Nicholson with 61.

Saturday’s 18-hole stableford

On Saturday (April 19), we had 19 players who played an 18-hole stableford.

Bill Welsh won the day with 37 points. John McWhirter came in second on a countback from Ian Dent and Allan Lummis - all 3 golfers had 35 points.

Stan Doyle won the ‘supa pin’ as he came within 56 centimetres of the hole.

Sunday’s 18-hole par

On Sunday (April 20) we played an 18-hole par. The winner was Rob Hay with plus two (+2). Brett Holland came in second with minus one (-1).

Gilgandra Toyota nearest the pin was won by Brett Holland.

Monday’s 18-hole stableford

On Monday we had 18 players who played an 18-hole stableford.

The winner was Lisa Holland with 36 points. We had three golfers who had 33 points so we had a countback for the placings.

Coming second was Maree Townsend. Third place went to Bill Kirsop. Fourth place went to John McWhirter.

Gilgandra Toyota nearest the pin went to Graeme Holland.

Over the five days of golf we had 127 players who played some fantastic golf.

A big thanks goes to the committee who were at the club for all five days to run things.
